Reply:I know it's common but you can pick up a copy of Durkheim's 'Suicide' relatively easily in almost any bookshop. My copy was... um... £7.99 I think.
You could do '...Jackie' by Angela McRobbie, which is about young girls who read the 'Jackie' comic/mag but it is a bit dated now.
Or my personal favourite is 'Learning to Labour' by Paul Willis, which is a look into working class boys and self-fulfilling prophecy, although this too is getting a little old now too!
Reply:There is a famous one by Marion Milner and Joanna Field an experiment in leisure for the phenomenological approach it is timeless, cheap and a good read. (virago) It is also now used as a reference book for (mental health) Service User- led research
Reply:How about the baby boom generation and the X generation differences in males behavior toward women? Compare fathers and their sons.
Reply:Ann Oakley- the sociology of housework
Ken Pryce-
Paul Willis- learning to labour
Eileen Barker- the making of a moonie
Weber
Young and Wilmott- kinship networks in london
