Which method would be most objective? An alphabetical list of the twenty words and respondents choose their 5? A grid of 20 squares with the words randomly placed?

What is the best research method for getting respondents to choose from a list?
The first one would be better.
A grid would provide a confusing picture. A linaer line by line list is certainlly better. Any person will go through the list line by line.
