What methods do feminist use during research?

Well on average here is how feminist research differs from regular social science research:

1) Participants are seen as the experts of their own experiences.

2) The researcher brings his or her own history and experiences to bear on the research process.

3) The "hierarchical" relationship between the researcher and the participant is removed. This possibly involves including the participant in all areas of research.

4) Research is mainly aimed at finding ways to change the status quo.

5) Dealing with "power relationships" in the research team (i.e. giving women credit for their discoveries and involving more women in the research process at high levels).

6) Issues that are important to women are the starting point.

7) Redirect areas of study away from a male interpretation of women's experiences and more towards what the women themselves actually say they experienced.

What methods do feminist use during research?
Google "Lenore Weitzman".

She produced a study that showed that after divorce, women's income dropped by some fantastic amount while men's actually rose. It was proven to be false many times over (she resisted peer review to an extreme measure) but eventually admitted it was inaccurate but it is still used by feminists because it supports their agenda.

In the end, the only thing that matters is not the truth of a matter but whether or not it makes women appear to be disadvantaged.

Feminism starts with an idea then builds the research to suit.
Reply:Um, the same methods that humans use in research?

I'm confused, do you think that feminist have a different way of researching things that others have yet to invent? Hmm, interesting.
Reply:The same methods that anyone else uses in their research...
Reply:The social workers use double blind. That's their favourite.
Reply:they pack a bunch of men and women in a room and see how the men react while watching through a see through mirror taking notes.

Becareful that they dont abduct you!
Reply:Self serving motives %26amp; agendas
Reply:Statistics, circular reasoning and new age stuff.

Jennifer: so they tend to focus on the subjective? then its not really research...
Reply:Well, typically, feminist researchers use the same methods as any other kind of research...statistics, books, etc. However, they (including me) also tend to focus more on the subjective rather than the objective. That is, not everything can be learned from a book! Sometimes a nice interview helps. I think feminists (most of the time) like to put a little heart into what they are writing.

But it's also really hard to narrow something down like that. There are many types of feminism, and everyone has her own way of doing things!
Reply:Any lie, cheat, or steal that will get them what they want.

Logic and honesty are not in their lexicon.
Reply:um, the same methods you use.
Reply:I personally like to go naked into a corn field, chant the name of the divine goddess thirteen times, don my black and white zebra cloak and throw a pin in the air.

Whichever man it lands on, I trample until he does all my work for me, then I write my thesis in his blood and curse the professors and employers until I get straight 'A's and pay rises.

Hey, works for me!

Sheesh ... if it wasn't for the enjoyment, it wouldn't be worth answering some of this stuff, lolol.

Cheers :-)
Reply:methods that could support their own BS
Reply:Typically qualitative i.e. interviews etc. This is supposed to get a more human view of a subject rather than a cold, statistical analysis (e.g. probability value of .05 etc). This is okay but obviously (and intentionally) non-scientific. Some feminists explicitly reject the scientific method as a product of masculinity and a tool of the oppressive patriarchy.

They should probably stick to the qualitative research, because feminists are notorious for their abuse of quantitative methods e.g. coming up with domestic abuse figures that don't reflect reality. Funny enough, their distorted findings always seem to give answers that support feminist causes. Coincidence?
