a.Primary and Secondary Data

b.Quantitive and Qualititive data (and explain difference)

c. Valid, reliable and representative data

i doubt ill have many takers but whoever does this will earn 10 points, my immense personal gratitude, and the satisfiaction and good karma of helping another human being! Now how's that for a deal! =D

Can you help me with some questions about sociological research methods (not conducting actual research here)?
Here are my guesses (it's been a while since I took intro soc)

a. Primary data is data collected directly from people (questionnaires, interviews, directly observable behaviors, etc). Secondary data would be things like public records about race, gender, income, etc.

b. Qualitative data would be things like interviews, open ended questions, etc. Quantitative data would be collected using standard questionnaires, measures, or things that can be analyzed mathematically- statistics.

c. Representative data means that you collect information from a broad selection of people- not just college sophomores (like much research done at colleges), or representative of the group you are trying to study.
