What are different methods to use a pendelum on paranormal research?
The pendulum has been used mostly as a divining tool by mediums. A medium might hold a string attached to the pendulum over a drawing or diagram, or even over a pregnant woman's belly when trying to determine the sex of the baby. The medium will hold the string and the pendulum will start swinging in one direction or another. The direction it swings determines the prediction.





Of course, none of the above has ever been shown to provide accurate predictions under controlled testing. As far as anyone can show, it's all superstition and guesswork helped along by the ideomotor effect.

The pendulum has some properties that make it a precise instrument. The period (time it takes to swing from one side to the other) is always the same, no matter how far it swings or how hard its pushed, or how much weight is added onto it.


This is why it has been used to make clocks for so long.





The pendulum was mostly used by charleton psychics and mediums to make them look scientific and precise. If you want someone to give you money, pretend that its a science, and the answers you are getting are precise works of physics.





Like most fake psychic and medium techniques, it has been picked up by those who believe that those psychics had the gift, and this technique was how it manifested.

Reply:I've used two different pendulums most of my life.They were given to be by someone who showed me how to witch water with a willow branch.I have one made of quartz an one made of amethyst. both answers questions yes or no,male or female,by the direction that it swings.I believe that the magnetic fields are truly accurate.The energy fields which are also natural,work together to pick up on the anomalies that we call paranormal phenomenon.The problem that I have with the dowsing rodes(which I have also used) is that they can pick up on man made electric sources such as household lines ,power lines and man made streams.....Paranormal research and there new methods are extraordinary!But there was pendulums and the senses before there was electronics.Theres a book on "Pendulum Healing Handbook"written by Walter Lubeck-Lotus Light-Shangri-La,that is wonderful on how to use the pendulum.Its a good starter because you start with healing body mind and spirit..... Reply:Pendulum has been used as a divining tool by others; not just Mediums...it is stereotypical to assume all Mediums use them; I know how to use one, but I find them to be flawed.





Mostly, I see that they are moved by energy and can easily detect energy 'patterns'...so crystal pendulums are good for checking chakras but for general divination they are not recommended so much.





One method is to hold the pendulum in your dominate hand (right hand if right handed; left if left handed) and hold your other hand just a couple inches below the pendulum --- keeping your hands still, say "show me yes" and it should move in a direction...say "show me no" and it should move in a different direction.





Then you ask yes or no questions and the direction it moves is your answer --- you can also ask for "maybe" or "i don't know".





You can also put those answers on a paper and swing the pendulum over those words saying "this is yes"....and so forth; when you're done 'programing' you can then ask your questions with the pendulum in your dominate hand...keeping it still and allowing the pendulum to move.
