Why use Correlation Research and case study methods?

in psychatric evaluations of pathological liars and their spouses

Why use Correlation Research and case study methods?
Correlation Research is typically used when a causal relationship cannot be determined. Correlations allow studies on topics to get an idea if these topics are related to each other in any way. In your example, it would be difficult to find a causal relationship between the spouse who is a pathological liar and his/her spouse. The liar may lie because of the marriage circumstances OR the marriage circumstances may be affected because of the lying spouse.

Case study methods are used to analyze one particular situation. Since there could be so many different variables involved with your example, it may be difficult to generalize several different pathological liars and their spouses into one data capture. For example, one couple may have children, while another may not. The presence or absence of children could affect the lying. Case studies are great tools in this situations.
Reply:That is the universally accepted scientific method for eliciting interpretive responses which can be logically and statistically analyzed.
